NAPA Awards APAC-Alabama’s Dothan Plant with Diamond Paving Commendation

November 19, 2025

Excellence in safety, quality and care doesn’t just happen by chance; it’s built from the ground up. That’s why APAC-Alabama is proud to announce that our Dothan Asphalt Plant has earned a Diamond Quality Commendation from the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA).

The Diamond Commendation Program distinguishes asphalt facilities that consistently meet the highest standards in materials production, quality control and paving operations. Specifically, the Diamond Quality Commendationhighlights outstanding materials production and quality management processes such as aggregate handling, RAP management, asphalt storage, drying and mixing, air quality controls and plant control systems.

Plants participating in NAPA’s program complete a thorough self-assessment that benchmarks their practices against national standards, identifies areas for improvement and showcases their commitment to safe, efficient and high-performing operations.

At APAC-Alabama, these standards guide everything we do. From producing high-quality asphalt to following best practices at every stage of production and paving, our teams ensure safe, efficient and reliable operations.

Receiving NAPA’s recognition is a proud moment for our Dothan Asphalt Plant. It reflects the skill, dedication and teamwork of our employees, and reinforces our commitment to delivering safe, high-quality paving solutions that benefit our customers, our communities and our partners.

About NAPA
Founded in 1955, the National Asphalt Pavement Association is a trade association that represents the interests of the asphalt pavement material producers and contractors on the national level with Congress, government agencies and other national trade and business organizations. Its mission is to advance the asphalt pavement industry through leadership, stewardship and member engagement. NAPA advocates for asphalt producers and provides technical, educational and marketing information for its 1,200+ member companies.

The APAC internship program is designed to help participants explore their chosen career paths by offering real-world, hands-on experiences. While college education provides an academic foundation for careers in construction, nothing compares to on-site opportunities and learning on the job.

APAC-Alabama interns go through training, participate in team projects, ask questions and receive feedback as they work to develop skills and knowledge within their specific fields. They are guided by supervisors throughout the course of the program.

Mobile Area Manager Bret Paulk will supervise Charlie Cox, a senior at Mississippi State University where he majors in civil engineering. Carter Drummond, a junior studying construction science at Tuskegee University, will work under Birmingham Area Manager Jeff Janeway over the summer. And Regional Sourcing Director Adam Sutherland will serve as supervisor for CRH regional intern Emily Avis, a University of Alabama senior majoring in operations management.

We are pleased to welcome Charlie, Carter, and Emily to our program for the summer, and we are eager to see what they will accomplish during their internships.
